Community Infrastructure Levy Update: 12 June

The window for submitting project ideas for our £6m CIL fund has now closed and we’re beginning to evaluate your ideas.

We received more than 1,000 submissions for funding.

This is far more than expected and it means we've made an incredible start in this new approach to allocating the funds available from Southwark's Community Infrastructure Levy.

Thank you to everyone who contributed!

The next steps

Our Local CIL Officers are now sifting through all the ideas.

They will evaluate whether the proposals meet the criteria and which projects show most promise and which have most to offer the local community. They will also work with colleagues from around the council to get input from other relevant departments. You may hear from them if they want to contact you for more information about one of your ideas.

In July, the officers will discuss the suggestions further with local ward councillors and we anticipate that the first projects could be approved for funding as early as this autumn.

Remember: there will be future rounds of funding too. So any project which missed the deadline or which couldn't be funded in this round may still have an opportunity for funding next year or at some point in the future.
